In regards to the DS method, in the book ‘Mental math tricks: to become a human calculator the Calculation 16.1 /7 = 2.3
checking it with the DS method, does not add up to me. The digit sum is 8/7 = 5 however 8/7 does not equal 5 it equals 1.14285714286 adding that altogether is 4 not 5. Please explain it is on page 17 of the book.

Don’t apply the DS method on the division 8/7 = 5.
Instead move the denominator to the right of the equation:
8/7 = 5
8 = 5 x 7
8 = 35
8 = 3+5
8 = 8
