I want to get better at chess and hopefully win a tournament. I want to be able to make a living off of playing tournaments and teaching the game.

I need to really dedicate as much of my time into the game as possible. I have a day job, so my heavy chess practice will be done on the weekends. I want to keep up my studies during weekdays though, and I need to get some confidence.

Hey, Allen! While I understand that confidence and dedication are important, assuming the identity of someone who loves chess will get you both confidence and dedication in the long run. Keep up the good work! 🙂

The smallest way I can start my habit is to play at least an hour a day and then read up on chess strategies afterwards. I also watch games in the club that I frequent so that I can learn from other players. I’ll increase the intensity by 5 minutes every week or an additional game if time hasn’t run out yet. I won’t be able to break the habit into sets during the weekdays but I might be able to in the weekends depending on how the rest of the day goes. I’ll cap my habit at 2 hours every weekday and 4 hours every weekend.
