I can definitely relate to having calls interrupt your habit. D: Hoping for the best for you.
From one diet warrior to another, welcome to the community! 🙂
I don’t know much about chess, either, but I do know a thing or two about making a living about what you want to do in life! 😀 I’m rooting for you. 😀
It all seems romantic, yes, until you get kicked in the gut by a horse. XD Milking them should be considered dangerous. XD
I’m glad the habit challenge has this section in one of the videos.
Worst case scenario, when I’m really in such a hurry, I’m going to do this 5 minute Yoga Routine.
Most of the things that disrupt my yoga habit involve whatever emergencies exist in the stables. What I do will depend on the extent of the emergency.
If I am in a hurry or I woke up late, then I will do the 5 minute Yoga Routine.
If there’s an emergency and it involves the life of one of my horses, then I’ll have to treat that as a planned exception and rush to the aid of my horse.
If the emergency isn’t life threatening, then I’ll do the 5 minute Yoga Routine as it helps me relax anyway.
If I am under the weather, then I will do the 5 minute Yoga Routine.
If my illness requires a doctor’s attention and not proceeding with physical activity, then I’ll follow my doctor’s advice regarding exercise.
Yes, I guess that’s another way to look at it.
Today, I announced my habit online on FB and have been posting up photos on Instagram. I don’t particularly put much in the way of captions but I think that gets the point across.
I don’t think I like the idea of setting up an Anti-Charity. I’m willing to spend money but only if I know I’m getting something good in return. I don’t quite like the idea of my habit being tied to the possibility of wasting my own money. In situations like that, I’d much rather pay someone to ensure success than make a reckless risk.
That being said, I do have a coach that helps monitor my practice and he agrees that keeping in shape is important in doing better at horseback riding.
I’m subscribed to her channel and she has lots of routines! I can pick any of them if I feel like the one I’m working on has gotten old. 😀
Speaking of, I’ve decided to place a computer and a sizeable screen in the room where I work out. I normally use my phone to look at what the next move in the routine is but that got very annoying quickly. With my pc and a big monitor, I can just watch the routine and follow with the video on the screen, no problem at all.
If there’s one thing that really deters me from doing my daily yoga routine, it’s that I feel I always have to hurry coz I have to be the first that opens the stables for my employees to come in. Yesterday, I left an extra key to my most punctual employee so that they can start without me. I’ve also worked with people to help me install cameras on site so I won’t have to worry about any funny business while I’m not around. It costs some money so I’m glad business has been going well so far.
Yes, I did just that! The calendar is hung on the door and I’m always reminded to mark a box before leaving. 🙂
I don’t quite feel that I do have to overcome “Habit Inertia” but I think part of that is because yoga sort of already has a wind up to it.
I’m doing this routine, and it always starts in a seated position and simply breathing in and out. It’s easy and it’s the first step to the routine. Everything that comes forward warms you up and it leads to the more difficult parts of the routine. I guess it helped ease me into the routine so I don’t feel like making the first step is just so hard.
Anyway my mantra is “I don’t miss my daily Yoga Sessions”
I bought a calendar for myself here:
To make my habit easier to do, I cleared up space at home in a room beside mine to do Yoga in. I left all of my paraphernalia inside the room so that I don’t have to move them around and misplace them later on. I haven’t figured out what other triggers I should be using, but at any rate, I always do my routine after I wake up and before I brush my teeth and bathe.
If I get to the point where I’m doing extra sets in the afternoon, then I’ll probably do it as soon as I get home and before I take a 2nd bath.
It’s lucky that the habit challenge is telling me to start small because I think I have no choice but to do that anyway. The limit will be 15 minutes for now though I can push it to 20 if I feel like it. I’ll do it every morning at 5AM, and I’ll add one minute each week so that I can exercise for much longer. I might need to split my habit into sets once my sessions reach 30 minutes, because there’s just no way I can fit a longer session into my morning routine without leaving my horses to starve. 🙁
I used to have to squeeze time to practice my horseback riding on top of the mountain of college requirements I had. It was a nightmare.
